Our Vision
A high-quality physical education curriculum inspires all pupils to succeed and excel in competitive sport and other physically-demanding activities. It should provide opportunities for pupils to become physically confident in a way which supports their health and fitness. Opportunities to compete in sport and other activities build character and help to embed values such as fairness and respect (DFE, 2015).
At The Hill Academy it is our goal to provide a high quality package of sport to engage, inspire and challenge pupils, enabling them with the opportunities to explore their body and build strength and skills. As pupils develop, they are offered opportunities to work co-operatively within groups (team work), improve their fitness and skills and socialise together in an enjoyable working environment. As with all subjects in the curriculum, children will face areas they may find more difficult, but we believe that with encouragement, supportive coaching and enabling environments children will grow and develop without being afraid of challenges in their life.
The Curriculum
Developing with external links, other academies and schools and working with our professional sports coach, The Hill Primary academy has strived to provide children with a stimulating and engaging curriculum which covers all of the fundamental skills needed for a developing sporting child through a range of varied sports and skills. At The Hill Primary academy we have worked hard to ensure the P.E. budget is used to ensure that suitable coaching and equipment is being deployed to allow all children access to this range of sports.
Regular competitions and school clubs within the academy have fostered an increased desire to participate in a variety of sports within the academy and with other schools and academies within the area. The Hill Primary wants to encourage this sense of healthy participation and sportsmanship and as a result we have already begun working closely with other agencies and specialists to develop sporting opportunities for the children.
The Equipment
The P.E. budget at The Hill Primary is being utilized to ensure all children are provided with the very best in coaching, resources and tools to support physical education within the academy. Developments for new and additional lunch time resources have already been purchased as well as ensuring the equipment used during lessons is of the highest standard. We are very excited for the increase in sports funding being raised in 2020, and we already have many exciting plans for the future of P.E. at The Hill Academy.
